Japanese Fukamushi Sencha

Taste Profile

We steam this leaf long and deep, and you taste that straight away. The first sip is bold, with the astringency deep steamed sencha is known for, but it stays round, never thin and never harsh. Underneath sits a soft roasted note from the final fire, and an umami that fills the mouth and holds. It pours cloudy and dark green, almost jade, because the long steam breaks the leaf down fine. It works cold as well as hot. This is a sencha built to be full and direct, and it doesn't pretend otherwise.

Brewing Instructions

Take 1 tsp (2 g) of tea leaves into an infuser.

Pour 180 ml of 80℃ hot water.

Steep for 1 - 3 minutes.

Filter the tea leaves and pour into a cup.
